Word provides a handy shortcut that allows you to quickly jump to either end of a table row. If you press Alt+Home, you are taken to the first cell in the row, where the insertion point is placed just before the first character of the cell. Likewise, you can jump to the last cell in a row by pressing Alt+End. This moves the insertion point to the last column in the row, where it is positioned just before the first character in the cell.
If you try to use these shortcuts outside of a table, they have no effect.

I remember a keyboard and mouse shortcut that could be used to select a table column in early versions of Word. I think it was Shift+Right Click. The shortcut does not work in Word 2019. Is there a similar shortcut in Word 2019 for selecting a column without using a menu or the ribbon?
Got a version of Word that uses the ribbon interface (Word 2007 or later)? This site is for you! If you use an earlier version of Word, visit our WordTips site focusing on the menu interface.
